Also known as the province of Avellino, north of Naples, it’s the home of Aglianico, its most important red vine and the source of the most structured wines on the market. Such grapes are particularly suited for cultivation in the Taurasi Docg territory (…) Today I’d like to introduce you to a wine which, in my opinion, towers above all others, It’s a red wine produced by the Stefania Barbot company: Irpinia Campi Taurasini “ION” 2013. Its area of origin is the DOC Campi Taurasini, a subdivision of the DOC Irpinia, and the vine belongs to the aforementioned Aglianico variety. ‘Ion’ is ancient Greek for “violet”, a clear reference to the wine’s colour and taste.” (Umberto Gambino on www.thewinereporter.it)

ION 2013 Campi Taurasini DOC dell’azienda Stefania Barbot attraverso le parole di Umberto Gambino:“L’Irpinia è, senza dubbio alcuno, un grande territorio di vini rossi (ma anche di bianchi). Meglio conosciuta come provincia di Avellino, a nord di Napoli, è la patria dell’Aglianico, il suo vitigno più importante grazie al quale si producono i vini più strutturati presenti sul mercato. Tale varietà è preferibilmente coltivata nel territorio della DOCG Taurasi (…) Oggi vorrei presentarvi un vino che, secondo il mio parere, supera di gran lunga gli altri. È il rosso prodotto dall’azienda Stefania Barbot: Irpinia Campi Taurasini “ION” 2013. Il territorio di origine è la DOC Campi Taurasini, una sottozona della DOC Irpinia, il cui vitigno appartiene al sopracitato Aglianico. ‘Ion’ in greco antico significa Viola, un chiaro riferimento al colore e al gusto del vino stesso.” (Umberto Gambino on www.thewinereporter.it)
